WEBAug 25, 2013 · It would only be 34hrs in the mill if milling all the components together. Then on top of saving 8 hours of milling, you would get better mixing of the chems also. If you are going to mix stuff, at the least, use a screen. 3040 mesh is good for intimate mixing, running the comp through the screen at least 3 times.

WEBI have been using the .50 cal lead balls for years never had an issue with contamination in my BP. In a small drum ball mill [like the Harbor Freight 1 2 drum models] you really aren't doing a lot of damage in the tumbling process since it is such a small drum and doesn't require a very long run time per batch of BP.

WEBDec 24, 2012 · As far as ball mill safety goes, the motor should be completely separated from the milling area, so that no powder can get to the motor. WEBPosted February 9, 2012. I just tested using 100 1/2 inch lead ball media vs 95 nickels and 25 quarters (they took up about the same volume) the lead ball media bp was a little faster. It was milled for six hours. Although neither where clumping to badly the sides of the drum with the nickels where cleaner than the lead ball media drum.

WEBDec 8, 2023 · Lots of folks mill lots of different ways. 10 pyros will have 12 opinions on it. One general rule is to fill the jar half full of media, and powder until it just covers the media, and leave the rest empty. I don't think anybody here would say milling in a garage is a good idea. There is a lot of ball mill talk on this forum in old threads.

WEBJun 14, 2021 · You can only run one jar at a time, and it will use around 75 of those balls. The stock mill runs at around 60 rpm. 90 rpm is ideal for that diameter jar. Easily done by cutting a section of vinyl tubing (Home Depot etc, a buck or two), splitting it with a knife, and sliding it over the drive rod.
